I always love hearing from friends with “light through the cracks” stories that they have discovered, as I then get the joy of sharing them on, and this is one of them.

It landed in my inbox late last year and it comes from a friend who is a Catholic, so the source and some of the content is explicitly Catholic.

It’s the story of an American woman, Roxanne, who suddenly started experiencing excruciating pain in her abdomen and was rushed in for emergency surgery. As she woke up from the anaesthetic, she was told the devastating news that a cancerous tumour had wrapped itself around many of her vital organs, with other tumours that had spread like confetti.

“You have Stage 4 cancer,” she was told, “There is no hope.”

Her husband headed into a tailspin of anger about the situation.

But they both believe in a supernatural God, who does supernatural things, including supernatural healing. So when their church held a healing service, they attended.

“Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus,” they were told by the Catholic priest, who was leading from the front, by the altar.

What followed next is recorded below. It will take less than five minutes of your time to watch.

If you are a Christian, to what extent do you believe in a supernatural God, who can do supernatural things, including supernatural healing? If you struggle in this area, why do think this might be?

Have you ever considered about the Holy Spirit burning with holy fire, in the way that Roxanne experienced? Why do you think God might choose to minister in this way?

As ever, constructive comments are welcome below.
