Sometimes I stumble across a “light through the cracks” story that is so moving it makes me weep.

This is one such story.

It features a woman who, when she was aged 18, was traumatically abused and raped by a man she had trusted. Despite the serious crimes committed against her, she didn’t report it or press charges. She simply buried what had happened, and got on with life.

It was 14 years later, when she was married and expecting her third child, that a remarkable series of “God-incidences” led to their paths crossing again.

Her rapist had been found guilty of an unrelated crime, and was now in prison. But he was so tormented and broken by what he had done to her, he was on suicide watch.

What follows is a truly remarkable story of courage, compassion, grace, forgiveness, restoration and salvation. But with a sprinkling of healing and wholeness thrown in for good measure.

You can read the full story here – and I commend it to you.

Jesus said of those who crucified him: “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing” (Luke 23:34).

He also told His disciples: “If you do not forgive others their sins, your (heavenly) Father will not forgive your sins” (Matthew 6:15).

For the people in this story, forgiveness was key for what followed.

Is there anyone who has wronged you, who you might need to forgive, however long ago it happened? Having extended forgiveness to others, are you willing to ask God to forgive your sins, through Jesus?
