When a farmer in rural China is involved in a serious car accident, he is left with depression, insomnia and acute anxiety.

But his wife persuades him to learn some basic dance routines – and his life is totally transformed. “As soon as I hear the music, my mind goes empty and I feel completely different,” he says.

Every day since, they spend time dancing together: Outside their home. In their fields. With their children. And it seems to have made a genuine difference.

During the current COVID-19 pandemic, the couple decided to share their ‘rural-style shuffle dances’ online, and their videos quickly went viral, attracting millions of viewers.
