It’s not often that you stumble upon a story behind the national news headlines, which forces you to stop a moment, thinking, ‘Wow!’
Three years ago, a teenage girl collapsed on a flight from London to Nice, and died in her father’s arms on the aeroplane floor. She had suffered a severe allergic reaction, having eaten a baguette at the airport, which had not listed the ingredients on the packaging.
The story of what happened was widely reported; many lessons were learnt about food allergen labelling; and a successful court ruling led to a change in legislation, known as ‘Natasha’s Law’, requiring all food businesses to include full ingredients’ labelling on pre-packaged food.
What wasn’t reported at the time was the extraordinary experience that Natasha’s father, Nadim, had on the aeroplane, as she was dying.
Natasha had been attending church during the year leading up to her death and, a few months before, she had decided to be baptised. The rest of her family, her father included, were atheists. Yet, as she was dying, he saw five angels ministering to her, in a soft yellow light.
His testimony of what happened, and how this has led him to faith in Jesus, and forever changed his life and the lives of those around him, is profound, powerful and deeply moving.
It is well worth the 35 minutes it will take you to listen.
But be warned: Tissues may be required!
