Sometimes a friend sends me a ‘light through the cracks‘ story that has an absolutely mind-blowing miracle at its heart – and this is one of them.

“I think you might enjoy this,” she says in her text.

I think you will too.

For many years, James has worked in chemical factories that largely manufactured products made of methanol, but it didn’t take long for this to begin to take its toll on his health.

At first, he noticed that his feet were turning numb, amongst other symptoms, and he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.

Five years later, he began to lose his eyesight, and he was eventually left with complete loss of sight in his left eye and only a fractured image in his right eye – a phenomenon akin to looking at a partial picture through a kaleidoscope.

Now fast forward to a couple of years ago.

By this stage, James has become a Christian, but he hasn’t yet been baptised. He knows it will be a public declaration of his faith in Jesus and a powerful way of proclaiming his salvation.

What he isn’t banking on is what happens next …

If you have six minutes to spare,  you can watch James share his story here:

***

James is not the only person whose blind eyes have been restored to 20/20 vision by Jesus. I have written elsewhere on this blog about a woman, for whom Jesus opened her blind eyes, whose testimony I was privileged to hear firsthand. (You can read her story here.)

Interestingly, in both cases, they were caught off guard by what happened.

Maybe, like James, you are living with a long-term chronic condition, such as Multiple Sclerosis or blindness? Maybe you can’t conceive of healing because you have been so frequently told that these diseases are incurable?

But what if God has a different plan? What if his desire is for you to be healed and released? If this is you, have you ever paused to ask God for his perspective on it? What if his prognosis differs from that of the doctors?

Or maybe you are a believer in Jesus, who hasn’t yet been baptised? If this is you, what do you think is holding you back from going through the waters of baptism? What if he has an unexpected gift to give you, just as he did for James?
